Reactions as Minister Wike and Minister Mariya Mahmud Embark on Road Inspection.

The Honourable Minister of State, FCT, Mariya Mahmud, and Minister Wike Nyesom embarked on a site inspection journey to assess the progress of the Usuma Water Supply Project on Gurara Road, among other initiatives initiated by the FCTA. This was revealed by Minister Wike on his official Facebook page few hours ago.

Wike stated that the FCTA has faced a significant challenge in the past, due to the proliferation of abandoned projects. According to him, this unfortunate situation arose from the dispersion of available finances, which has rendered them ineffective in making a substantial impact.

He has however set in motion a comprehensive plan to revamp the engineering services and address the systemic problems that have allowed this practice to persist. One of which is the decision to allocate financial resources more strategically, instead of spreading them. Another is for them to concentrate their efforts on completing projects in focused batches.

He said, “To achieve this, we have identified specific projects and secured their funding through Irrevocable Standing Payment Orders (ISPOs).” Many netizens has however applauded him for his continuous service. Some also suggested abandoned locations that needs development.
