The APC vice-presidential candidate Kashim Shettima attended the ceremony on Tinubu’s behalf. Abdulsalami Abubakar, a former head of state and chairman of the National Peace Committee, had said that candidates for the general election in 2023 have to sign a peace pact to guarantee peaceful electioneering processes both during and after the election.

Following a meeting with the committee members, Abdulsalami announced the signing of the Peace Accord on last Thursday in Minna, Niger State. He noted that during electioneering, politicians and their supporters frequently incite the populace. But Reacting to the news, popular activist, Aisha Yesufu took to her twitter page to drop her reactions about it, she wrote:

“No way should anyone be signing a peace Accord on behalf of anyone! Bola Ahmed Tinubu has to sign for himself”.
