According to Vanguard paper, it was reported that Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State shared the circumstances that motivated him to pursue a degree, attributing it to the relentless attacks he faced from the opposition.
Speaking at the Adeleke University’s joint convocation ceremonies, where numerous students were awarded their degrees, Governor Adeleke recounted his journey. He disclosed that after his defeat in the 2018 governorship election, he became the target of severe personal attacks and assaults from his political adversaries.
During this challenging period, he found solace and guidance from Dr. Tajudeen Adeleke, who encouraged him to forge ahead. Reflecting on a pivotal meeting prior to his self-imposed exile, Governor Adeleke shared Dr. Tajudeen’s advice: “Look at what you have been subjected to by those saying you were not educated. If you are ready to be governor, you must get educated, complete your education. Without completing it, forget your governorship ambition.”
Despite his age at the time, Governor Adeleke embraced this counsel and made the decision to re-enroll in a degree program. He overcame the obstacles and successfully completed his studies. Expressing pride in his accomplishment, the governor extended his gratitude to his family and friends for their unwavering support.
Returning to the political arena as a fresh graduate in 2022, Governor Adeleke made history. His journey conveys an important lesson: age should never impede the pursuit of education. What truly matters is the commitment and passion to succeed.
