Presidency: You Are Coming In With About 8 Million Votes; You Have No Bragging Rights -Segun Sowunmi

According to Segun Sowunmi, a prominent member of the PDP, despite the criticisms directed towards former president Mohammadu Buhari, he still managed to secure approximately 15 million votes and become the president. Sowunmi made this statement during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today show, in response to a question about whether the PDP is still relying on past accomplishments.

In his own words;

“It is unusual time because even with everything said about Mohammadu Buhari, at least he came to the villa with about 15 million votes. You are coming in with about 8 million votes, you have no bragging right, whatever you do, you have no bragging right.”

He further stated;

“You can not have a voting map of 93 million and someone is sitting in the villa with just about 8 million, that already invalidates the legitimacy.”

Sowunmi previously mentioned that the PDP has played a significant role in bringing numerous individuals, like Godswill Akpabio, a former PDP governor and senator, as well as Nasir El-Rufai and Ribadu, into positions of power. He argued that the current administration’s legitimacy issues at the top make it challenging to claim that the PDP is solely living in the past.

Sowunmi emphasized the disparity between a voting population of 93 million and a president in the villa with only 8 million votes, suggesting that this undermines the credibility of the current government.
