Presidential Election Tribunal Questions Obi's Petition's Specificity on Polling Unit Irregularities

Peter Gregory Obi was one of the politicians who filed a case against the Independent National Electoral Commission, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the All Progressives Congress over irregularities during the course of the election on February 25, 2023.

Reports from Channels Television on their official Twitter handle revealed that respondents contend that Obi’s petition alleged widespread irregularities without specifying the affected polling units”.

The petition also claimed that false election results were submitted during court proceedings without specifying which polling units were impacted or affected during the poll.

“The petition alleged overvoting and rigging but did not specify the polling units”, the presidential election petition tribunal justice maintained.

“The petitioners only made generic allegations, Justice Mohammed says.

“The petitioners allege irregularities and will use spreadsheets, inspection reports, and forensic analysis as evidence in the trial”.

“But he says the documents promised by the petitioners were not attached to the petition and served on the respondents”, Justice Mohammed concluded.
