My Tribunal Victory Was Arranged By God—Umeh

The Senator representing Anam­bra Central Senatorial District, Chief Victor Umeh, has said that God did everything to pave the way for his overwhelming victo­ry during the 2023 elections and in the tribunal where a number of petitions were filed against his triumph.

Umeh, a chieftain of Labour Party (LP), made the remarks while reacting to the tribunal judgment which upheld his elec­tion as the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District.

In a statement he personally signed, the Ohamadike Ndigbo, said: “To the glory of God, this is the second judgment in the var­ious petitions filed against me.

Nigeria Secret Police, DSS Arrests, Grills Central Bank Deputy Governor, Aishah Ahmad

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested and detained the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria in charge of Financial System Stability, Aishah Ahmad.

According to NTA on its X (formerly Twitter) handle, Ahmad was arrested and detained over the alleged fraudulent acquisition of shares in Polaris Bank, Titan Bank/Union Bank.

The report added that the CBN Deputy Governor is currently being interrogated on how the $300 million to complete the acquisition of Union Bank was raised by Titan Bank.

Her arrest and grilling followed the arrest and detention of the suspended Governor of the CBN, Godwin Emefiele, also by the DSS.

Wike To Start Rehabilitation Of Abuja Roads

As part of efforts to improve road infrastructure in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the minister, Nyesom Wike, says he would on September 11, flag-off the re-surfacing and rehabilitation of existing roads and remedial works on bridges of major roads in the territory.

In a statement signed by the director of press affairs in his office, Anthony Ogunleye, the minister said the re-surfacing project would cover 135 roads within Garki, Wuse, Gwarimpa and Maitama districts.

According to the statement, the flag-off ceremony will take place along the Ladoke Akintola Boulevard, Garki II, Abuja.

“This will be the first major infrastructure development project of the minister who has expressed determination to ensure rapid infrastructure development of the nation’s capital. The flag-off event will take place at 2:00pm,” he stated.

VP Shettima unveils 22.5km Jere Bowl road project in Borno

The Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima on Saturday performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of about 22.5km Jere Bowl road networks which cut across many farming communities of Mafa and Jere Local Government Areas of Borno state.

The project to be handled by a Chinese Construction Company ltd is sponsored by the North East Development Commission, NEDC.

Similar projects were performed by the commission across some states in the region during the past administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, especially the construction of 32km Garkida-Dabna road worth N6.3 billion in Adamawa State, 22.5km worth of N13.553 billion Jere-Bowls, 53km Gombe -Abba – Kirfi road in Bauchi State at the cost of N11.697 billion and the 54km Mutai – Ngalda road in Yobe which stood at the cost of N12.99 billion.

Shettima also flagged off the distribution of palliatives of food and non-food items donated by NEDC to the six states at the Government House Maiduguri with most of the governors of Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Bauchi in attendance, while the other states of Taraba and Gombe were represented by their deputies.
