Muslim clerics from Nigeria held a meeting with Abdourahmane Tchiani, leader of the military coup in Niger.

The Cable paper reported that, the clerics met with him on Saturday in Niamey, the country’s capital.

The trip was a component of diplomatic efforts to reestablish democracy in the country of West Africa.

On Wednesday night, Sheik Dahiru Bauchi’s intervention group met with President Bola Tinubu at the presidential mansion in Abuja.

In an effort to restore civilian government in Niger, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has already announced the deployment of a standby force.
