PHOTOS: Ganduje’s jubilant supporters besiege APC secretariat
On Thursday, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje’ s supporters flocked to the party’ s national headquarters in anticipation of his arrival after he was chosen as the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, according to PUNCH.
Cheerful fans were spotted dancing and chanting around the secretariat while wearing unique campaign shirts made for Babaringa and matching caps.
In place of the outgoing National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, and the outgoing National Secretary, Iyiola Omisore, Senator Ajibola Basiru, a former governor of Kanoa, was formally confirmed.
However, some members have kicked against the emergence of Ganduje as the party’ s chairman.
Also, Ahmed El- Marzuq, the All Progressives Congress’ national legal adviser, has left his post on the National Working Committee of the governing party.
El- Marzuq, who is thought to be a supporter of Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the former national chairman of the APC, reportedly resigned on Wednesday.
The legal icon has been the subject of pressure, according to sources at the party’ s national office in Abuja, since Adamu left.
Three months ago, the former national legal adviser made headlines when he suggested Mallam Salihu Lukman, the former National Vice Chairman for the Northwest, be expelled for his decision to sue the party and its leadership.
