Peter Obi Rejects Rumors of Coalition Talks with Atiku and Kwankwaso Against Tinubu

Addressing party loyalists at a rally in Edo State, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, reassured them that numerous recent claims about him are unfounded rumors.

This statement comes just a day after reports circulated that he was engaged in discussions with Atiku Abubakar and Rabiu Kwankwaso about potentially merging forces to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress in the 2027 presidential election.

According to PUNCH, Monday saw the emergence of a report suggesting that Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso were exploring the possibility of forming a coalition to challenge the APC in the forthcoming 2027 election. The report mentioned their intent to observe the outcomes of election petitions in court before determining their course of action.

Reiterating his dedication to the party’s growth, Obi assured loyalists and supporters that despite detractors, the Labour Party would only become stronger and more robust.

He emphasized his and the party leadership’s commitment to fostering a better, stronger Nigeria if granted the opportunity to govern the nation. Obi affirmed, “Labour Party will continue to grow. We will continue to go stronger (and) better. Half of the things you are hearing everywhere are rumours, don’t listen to them. We are committed to building a better and a new Nigeria where we will move Nigeria from consumption to production.”

Further addressing the crowd, Obi urged candidates participating in local government elections in the state to deliver on their campaign pledges in the event of victory.
