The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal has sacked Senator Emmanuel Udende of the All Progressives Congress in Benue State.

The tribunal declared the one-time governor of the state, Senator Gabriel Suswam of the Peoples Democratic Party, the winner of the senatorial election held on February 25, 2023.

Udende represents Benue North East Senatorial District in the red chamber.

The chairman of the panel, Justice Ory Zik-Ikeorha, and two justices entered judgment in favour of Suswam and PDP.

According to the judgment, Suswam and PDP fulfilled the requirement of the law in proving their case of irregularities such as mutilation, non-signing of documents, and non-inclusion of lawful votes among others.

One of the three members of the National/State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal, however, held that evidence by PDP’s Gabriel Suswam was grossly insufficient to sustain his petition.

He, therefore, dismissed the petition and awarded the cost of N100,000 in favour of each of the respondents against the petitioners.

Abe said that both Atiku Abubakar of the PDP and Peter Obi of Labour Party deserve the respect for their patriotism in contesting the elections and pursuing their grievances within the constitutional provisions.

Abe stated that ‘we have always maintained that there is nothing in all those personal attacks except for politics and that has now been put to rest “.

“ Immediately after the 2023 Presidential election and the winner declared by INEC, the opposition slogan has been “All eyes on the Judiciary”.

“Wednesday 7/9/2023 the Nigerian judiciary effectively discharged its commitment to the Nigerian Constitution and the Nigerian people by upholding the law.

The election petition tribunal in Enugu State has sacked Prof Paul Nnamchi of the Labour Party, representing the Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency of the state.

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prince Cornelius Nnaji was declared the winner instead.

Nnaji had approached the tribunal, challenging the declaration of Nnamchi as the winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The court said that the respondent was not duly sponsored and therefore not qualified to contest on the platform of the Labour Party.

The tribunal agreed in its unanimous decision with the petitioner’s claim that the Labour Party’s candidate was not qualified to contest the election.

If you want to stay rich, stay stingy – Akon

Singer Akon has advised people to stay stingy and not ‘blow off’ their money if they want to stay rich.

The Kovict label boss, while appearing on the latest episode of the Impaulsive podcast, labeled himself as ‘very stingy.’

He said, “If you want to stay rich, stay stingy. I’m the stingiest guy on the planet.”Akon also warned music stars and celebrities against owning private jets, noting that they cost more to maintain.

“I attempted to own a jet, but it only lasted 6 months; I sold that thing so fast. Buy some hours and use it only when necessary, and most of the time use it as a way of negotiating; let that be a part of your strategy to the money, but whatever you do, never own a jet.

“Owning a jet means you spend two to three million dollars a year just for upkeep. You spend more on maintenance than the actual jet cost.

“This is the advice I give everybody: the money you have now has to last you a lifetime. When you think about it like that, the way you manage everything will be different.”
