PEPT: "The mandate freely expressed on February 25 will be returned to the rightful winner –LP

Nigeria is eagerly awaiting the verdict from the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT), which will decide the fate of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s election victory. The judgment is set to be delivered tomorrow, creating tension and anxiety across the country.

Umar Mohammed Bangari, Chief Registrar of the Court of Appeal, confirmed September 6, 2023, as the judgment date for the presidential poll, as reported by LEADERSHIP paper. The tribunal has consolidated petitions from various political parties and decided to deliver judgments on the same day for the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP). These judgments will be televised live to ensure transparency, but access to the court premises will be restricted to accredited individuals.

The Labour Party is hopeful that the PEPT judgment will favor their presidential candidate, Peter Obi. Obiora Ifoh, the National Publicity Secretary of LP, expressed confidence that the judgment will align with the people’s will and uphold the mandate given during the February 25 election.

In summary, Nigeria is on edge as it awaits the PEPT judgment on President Tinubu’s election victory. The LP believes the judgment will support their candidate, Peter Obi, and uphold the mandate expressed by the people in the February 25 election.
