"PDP Would Have Won The 2015 Election If Jonathan Had Not Participated" – Fayose

In a recent interview with Channels TV news, Ayo Fayose, the Former Governor of Ekiti State, voiced his belief that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) could have emerged victorious in the 2015 Presidential election if Goodluck Jonathan had not contested. Fayose emphasized the importance of introducing a rotational Presidency system into the constitution, urging the National Assembly to consider this proposal. His argument centered on the need to include minorities in the power shift dynamics to ensure fair representation in the highest office of the land.

Fayose underscored his assertion, stating, “I have been actively involved in the political system, and I can confidently tell you that if we don’t institutionalize these rotational presidencies, we will continue to face challenges. Some candidates should not have even been part of that election. The Vice President, in all sincerity, should not have run in the last election.” This echoes a recurring issue observed during Jonathan’s tenure, where Fayose suggested that had Jonathan not run in the 2015 election, the PDP might have secured victory. He emphasized the importance of reflecting on these matters to prevent well-intentioned ideas from becoming obstacles.

The call for rotational presidencies and the consideration of minorities in power transitions reflects Fayose’s concern for a more inclusive and stable political landscape in Nigeria. He believes that such measures could potentially prevent past mistakes and enhance the democratic process.
