Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has charged the Governor Ademola Adeleke-led administration to distribute rice given the state by the federal government as palliative to the people.
Vanguard report that, The party added that the governor should not allow the people die of hunger while the rice and other food items meant to cushion economic hardship rot away in storage.
According to a statement released by the party’s chairman Tajudeen Lawal and provided to reporters on Thursday by Kola Olabisi, the party is upset that the state government has declined to distribute the rice that the federal government handed to it after twelve days.
Is Governor Adeleke debating whether to make palliatives available at the appropriate moment, or is he waiting until residents of the state starve to death?
“All sincere participants in the Osun State project should implore Adeleke to allow the federal government’s rice palliatives to be released so they can reach the needy on time,” they said.
Vanguard report that, “The state administration’s alleged diversion of the rice palliatives would negatively impact the standing of the current state government, according to some concerned discerning minds in the state.
“Again, if the rumours that Adeleke is attempting to pull a fast one on the palliatives from Abuja by engraving “Imole De Rice” on it are to be believed, it shall be resisted by all legal means,” the statement continued.
In response, the state’s commissioner for information and public education, Kolapo Alimi, acknowledged that the state had received 2400 bags of rice but stated that it was not being hoarded and that distribution would be delayed until it got the remaining shipment.
“Governor Ademola Adeleke is a committed and responsible leader who will never harm the populace or deny them of their palliative. The governor cares about the wellbeing of the people and will do everything in his power to ensure it.
