A former ation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has warned the military regimes in Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso not to provoke Nigeria to wage a war against them.

Following the recent coup d’etat in the Niger Republic deposing President Mohamed Bazoum, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) gave the military junta in Niger seven days to restore the ousted leader.

Regional bloc ECOWAS has imposed sanctions on Niger, including halting all financial transactions and freezing its national assets. It also threatened to use force to reinstate Bazoum.

The Obi-Datti Campaign Organisation yesterday declared that with the damning evidence before the Presidential Election Petition Court (PREPEC) in Abuja against President Bola Tinubu, he would not participate in the rerun election should the poll be annulled. Also, the Special Assistant on Public Communication to Atiku Abubakar, Mr. Phrank Shaibu, said that there is palpable fear in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on the likelihood of the court upturning the election of President Tinubu.

Spokesperson and Head of Media of the organisation, Mr. Diran Onifade, told THISDAY yesterday that President Tinubu’s legal team did not only mislead him but also effortlessly tried to hoodwink the Justice Haruna Tsammani-led five-man panel.President Tinubu had last Tuesday appealed to the justices of the PREPEC to exclude the presidential candidate of the LP, Mr. Peter Obi, and his party in the event of any rerun presidential election, claiming that only he and the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, are constitutionally qualified to recontest the rerun election.

A Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois County, United States of America, has dismissed a lawsuit filed by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 presidential election, to get access to President Bola Tinubu’s confidential educational records at Chicago State University.

Tinubu’s academic qualifications and records have in recent times become a subject of controversy especially when a copy of a sworn affidavit in support of his nomination form for the presidential election, which he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), surfaced in the media.

Atiku had filed a suit, seeking to subpoena the university but was said to have, before the date of hearing, withdrawn the case before the court.

However, the Circuit Court papers dated July 31, revealed that Judge Patrick J. Heneghan dismissed the case without prejudice, according to documents obtained by Sunday PUNCH.
