Oyebanji Faults Criticism By Ekiti APC Members Over Political Appointments

According to a post on Vanguard’s official website, asserting that he dragged his feet in making political appointments, Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has criticized various remarks and grievances involving APC members in the state.

A visibly irate Oyebanji stated his unhappiness that some party members have quickly forgotten his promises and the deal he established with the party before his election at the inauguration of nineteen commissioners and fourteen special advisers on Tuesday.

He recalled that party members had complained throughout his election campaigns that they weren’t being carried along and had little input in political appointments, leading him to promise a different approach if elected.

“I fail to comprehend why party members should be upset if the governor you chose is living up to his campaign promises. I want to be known as a leader who speaks the truth, but sadly, we’ve grown accustomed to being misled and treated unfairly. I’m not going to act in that way, and I make no apologies for it, Oyebanji said.” He said.

The governor clarified that the Ekiti APC concurred with him that the appointment process would not start until after the results of the general election, leaving some party members wondering what had changed to cause such discontent.

“Those who are not accustomed to things being done correctly must reset their thinking. As long as I am your governor here, I’ll maintain my way, and all party members ought to get used to it,” the governor reaffirmed.

Additionally, he denied reports that the executive council in Ekiti State had been absent since he took office in October 2022, claiming that 10 special advisers and around three commissioners had already been installed and that both virtual and physical executive council meetings had been held.
