Don’t Form Alliance Against Tinubu, Ohanaeze Advises Obi

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo has advised Peter Obi to align with President Bola Tinubu instead of his counterparts from the Peoples Democratic Party and New Nigeria Peoples Party, namely Atiku Abubakar and Rabiu Kwankwaso.

In a statement issued on Monday, Ohanaeze’s Secretary-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, expressed skepticism about the bility of this alliance, asserting that Nigerians would reject both Kwankwaso and Atiku. Isiguzoro emphasized that any coalition aiming to challenge Tinubu’s administration would not succeed.

He further conveyed that Nigerians are well aware that Atiku would not support Obi’s emergence as the leader of the opposition, given Atiku’s intense desire to become president. As a result, Nigerians are unlikely to support any coalition involving Atiku.

The statement read, “Peter Obi, Atiku, and Kwankwaso’s plan to take power from APC is not only a pipe dream but satanic. The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, insisted that the ongoing reported talk between the opposition political party leaders is a welcome development as it will put the APC-led Federal Government on its toes to ensure that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration delivers all the campaign promises to Nigerians.

“But anything contrary to these is regarded as the inconsiderate pursuits of drowning politicians whose aims are satanic, mischievous, but laughable. Ohanaeze Ndigbo observed that there is the possibility of a collapse in their talks because Nigerians will not accept Atiku or Kwankwaso as the leaders of the alliance.

“Nigerians know that the uncharitable disposition and desperation of Atiku Abubakar of the PDP will never allow him to support Peter Obi to be the leader of the Nigerian opposition; the ill-fated journey of Atiku, Obi, and Kwankwaso will crumble in the future.”

FCT: ‘We’ll do our job’ – Wike reveals what will happen to PDP Secretariat if they don’t have C-of-O

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), affirmed his commitment to fulfilling his duties impartially. He spoke to reporters in Abuja on Monday, shortly after his inauguration as the FCT minister.

Speculation had arisen regarding the potential targeting of the national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by the former Rivers State governor.

Wike emphasized that his party would face legal consequences if it was found that they lacked a certificate of occupancy (C-of-O), which is colloquially referred to as C-of-O.

He stated his intention to take appropriate measures against the PDP or any other individual or group that unlawfully occupies properties in Abuja.

Wike said, “Is there anybody I want to fight that I’ll not tell you I want to fight? You heard that I went to PDP to check if they don’t have a C-of-O.

“If they don’t have C-of-O, then they don’t have it. I mean, what kind of politics is that? If you don’t have it, you don’t have it.

“So, if we’re doing something to find out those who don’t have C-of-O or those who have it or have not complied, and maybe PDP is one of them, we’ll not do our work?”

Why Tinubu made me solid minerals minister instead of information – Alake

The appointment of Dele Alake, the Minister of Solid Minerals, by President Bola Tinubu, which generated controversies, has been explained by Alake himself.

He emphasized that his sense of responsibility, expertise, and proven track record were the factors that influenced Tinubu’s decision.

Alake clarified that contrary to expectations, the President did not assign him to the Information Ministry, which aligns with his background.

He stated, “My portfolio has been the upset of the entire cabinet because given my antecedents, exposure, and experience in the area of perception, information management, and the likes so most people have pigeon whole me for Information and so we decided to shock everybody.

“Now if you all can sit down to analyse the global trend of economic development, you would note that the hydrocarbon that is the oil is fading out and the world is moving towards alternatives like gas, electric cars, and the rest. So what is the next economic growth factor? It is solid mineral.

“Given the nature of this sector to our economic growth and vitality of this country which is dear to the heart of Mr President, it’s just very apt and proper for him to send me here because he knows and trusts that I have a demonstrable sense of responsibility and courage to drive the agenda, that is why I am here. We are going to drive that agenda with the full cooperation of everyone.”

Alake further emphasized that it’s not solely about the portfolio or ministry, but the results he delivers for Nigerians.

“In my world, where I come from, you know you are in the civil service and have your rules and regulations but in my world, there are no strictures, I have been in the civil service as a commissioner before. My modus operandi is results, I really don’t care how you get me the results as long as you use legitimate means to get the result.

“I am going to set an agenda with focus and objectives, we would get the results. Now we are not going to be allowing civil service structures and strictures to stifle us from creativity and flourishing, what we need is attitudinal change.”
