"Off your Mic" – Akpabio Tells Sen. Abaribe For Asking A Nominee Question About Obeying Court Orders

During the screening of a ministerial nominee today, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, the president of the 10th Nigerian senate, advised Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe not to inquire about the government’s response to court orders, citing it as preemptive.

Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe asked, “What actions would you take if the federal government chooses not to comply with court orders, assuming your appointment is confirmed?”

In response, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio blurted saying, “off your microphone! You can’t be asking such a question because it is preemptive. He expressed that the administration of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu believes in the rule of law, unlike what may have occurred in previous governments.
