‘Obidients’ to Storm Owerri as Achonu Flags Off Campaign for Imo Governorship

A report from the national daily, VANGUARD, states that ‘Obidients,’ the supporters of Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) candidate in the February 25th presidential election, are set to gather in Owerri, the capital of Imo State to mark the commencement of the party’s gubernatorial campaign for the November 11th election. The event, scheduled for Tuesday, August 22, will be attended by Peter Obi, Abia State Governor Alex Otti, and Barrister Julius Abure, the National Chairman of LP, along with other prominent party members.

The Achonu/Nwulu Campaign Organisation, in a press release, highlighted that the campaign will draw significant attention to Imo State. A large crowd of ‘Obidients,’ including new members of the Labour Party, will gather to show support for Senator Athan Achonu and his deputy gubernatorial candidate, Honourable Tony Nwulu, as they officially launch their campaign.

Achonu, during the inauguration of his campaign coordination team for the twenty-seven Local Government Areas of the State at his campaign office in Owerri, expressed confidence that Peter Obi’s impressive reception in Owerri would mirror the Obi/Datti ‘One-Million-Man March’ witnessed during his presidential campaign nationwide. He emphasized the importance of ‘Obidients’ uniting to showcase their unwavering backing for the Achonu/Nwulu mandate, as well as reaffirm their sincere admiration for Peter Obi and the Labour Party.
