Obi Did Not Consider My Tribe or Political Affiliation, Yet Gave Me an Appointment – Monarch

According to a report by THE SUN, Major General Felix Agho Mujakperuo (retd), Orhue 1, the traditional ruler of Okpe Kingdom in Delta State and the Orodje of Okpe, has characterized Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, as a truly detribalized Nigerian. He commended Obi for transcending tribal and religious affiliations while actively pursuing the peace and unity of the nation.

During a courtesy call by the former Anambra State Governor at his palace, the Orodje recounted a significant event from 2012 when Obi appointed him as Chancellor to Anambra State University, now known as Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, without considering his tribe or political affiliation. The Orodje remarked, “He did not consider the fact that I am not from his tribe or political affiliation. He knew that I could do the job and he gave me the appointment. It shows that under him, Nigerians will be considered for positions on merit, rather than on tribal and religious considerations or how connected one is. He has proven again and again that he is truly a detribalised Nigerian.”

The Orodje also praised Mr. Obi’s humility, recalling how the former Governor personally attended to guests during an event at the government house while he was in office. He hailed the Labour candidate for initiating a revolutionary movement that has reshaped Nigeria’s political landscape and continues to inspire hope in the people.

In response, Obi emphasized that his quest for a better Nigeria revolves not around himself but centers on building a more prosperous society that will serve the interests of all Nigerians.
