The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has denied allegations that he is planning with the Edo State House of Assembly to impeach the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu.
According to Godwin Obaseki, the issues he is having with Philip Shaibu has to do with his intention to become the next governor of Edo State under the platform of PDP.
Vanguard paper reported that Godwin Obaseki revealed that Philip Shaibu came to him to discuss who he intends to make his successor as Shaibu has interest. However Obaseki disclosed that he told Shaibu that they should be patient and that their task is to try and finish well and conclude all the projects they started. Obaseki maintained that It is only when they do this right that they will have the support of the people for his successor.
Speaking further, Obaseki said that currently, Shaibu went to court to stop being impeached so that he can keep his ticket and move to another party. Obaseki declared that he believes that the move being made by Shaibu is unfair to PDP.
