Subsidy Removal: FG’ll Review Workers Salary – Akpabio

Sen. Godswill Akpabio, president of the Senate, announced that the Federal Government would increase worker salaries to lessen the impact of the elimination of gasoline subsidies.

This was said by Akpabio when the governor of Ekiti state, Abiodun Oyebanji, and state legislators paid him a visit on Tuesday in his office at the National Assembly.

The Senate President gave the Nigerian people assurance that the Federal Government was aware of the challenges brought on by the elimination of fuel subsidies.

He claimed that the withdrawal of fuel subsidies was a measure taken by the current administration to combat corruption because the fuel subsidy system was rife with wrongdoing.

Apabio said, “Nigeria as a country would not have survived the next few years if the fuel subsidy had not been removed.”

He emphasized that, if reviewed higher, the government would have the ability to pay salaries and wages.

Oyebanji praised the Senate President for his work over the previous month in office.

The governor reaffirmed the government’s and people’s commitment to working with the legislature to advance the nation as well as their willingness to support the success of his presidency of the 10th Senate.
