NSS: Naija Soccer Stars Premiers Its First Reality TV Show

Nigeria’s first football reality TV show, Naija Soccer Stars (NSS) debuted on Monday, November 8th 2021 with fanfare.

Eighty-eight camp guests and eight football teams who will be jostling to win the cash prize of 16.5 million naira and many other consolation prices arrived at the NSS arena of stars Lagos, Nigeria.

The show aims to discover football talents that abound throughout the nation and showcase them to the world.

Words of the CEO of NSS

In his opening remarks, the CEO of Naija Soccer Stars Ltd NSS, Mr. Rupert Ojenuwa said that the show is meant to showcase and grow football talents in Nigeria.

According to the CEO, he said;

“Football needs attention than any other talent in the country. Why don’t we conceptualize something that will give footballers an opportunity to showcase their talents so that the world can see them for who they are and for what they possess and just maybe, somebody will like them.

“We felt, why don’t we create a supermarket where footballers are showcased. I see this becoming a household name.”

Becoming a feeder to many clubs across the world. What we’re looking to do is to give these players a source of livelihood, bring them into the society and make them somebody that everybody will look up to.”

The host of Naija Soccer Stars, Miye Akide charged the campers to focus and be resilient in chasing their dreams. Also the camp commandant, Kehinde Idris maintained the need for players to be disciplined.

During this episode, the camp commandant introduced the viewers to the facilities including the arena, judges studio, sick bay and the camp quarters before reading out the camp rules to the players.

The players were grouped into eight teams of 11 players each including, Akwa Ibom FC, Adamawa FC, Kano FC, Enugu FC, Lagos FC, Kogi FC, Ogun FC and Rivers FC. These teams will compete against each other for the champion of the show to emerge.
