Northern governors are North worst enemies – Ibrahim Balarabe Musa

In an interview with Oluwafemi Juwe and Godwin Isenyo, Ibrahim Balarabe Musa, the first son of the late Balarabe Musa and a prominent voice in the North, expresses his dissatisfaction with the actions of the northern governors. He accuses them of contributing to the high poverty rate in the region and recounts the alleged pain inflicted on him by the former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai.

When asked about his expectations from the new administration at the federal level following the conclusion of elections and the inauguration of the President, Musa remains skeptical. He highlights the ongoing court cases related to the elections and suggests that it would have been more comfortable if these cases were concluded before the swearing-in ceremony. Musa proposes a rearrangement of the electoral timeline, suggesting that elections should be held earlier in the year, around November or December of the preceding year. This would allow for the resolution of electoral matters by April, with the swearing-in of elected officials taking place in May.

Musa acknowledges the current electoral arrangements but expresses a desire for constitutional changes that would lead to a more streamlined and efficient process. By concluding court cases before the inauguration, the country would have a clearer path forward and a more stable political landscape. In conclusion, Ibrahim Balarabe Musa criticizes the northern governors for their alleged role in exacerbating poverty in the region. He shares his concerns about the ongoing court cases related to the elections and suggests a rearrangement of the electoral timeline for smoother transitions of power in the future.
