Tinubu Assigns Portfolios To Ministers

President Bola Tinubu has assigned portfolios to his ministers, over one week after they were screened by the Senate.

The portfolios were announced by the president’s office as contained in a statement sent to PREMIUM TIMES.

Ex-Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike was named Minister of the FCT while Wale Edun was named finance minister.

Makinde Advocates Single Tenure For Political Office Holders

Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, has advocated a single-term tenure for political office holders.

This is contained in a statement issued on Wednesday in Ibadan by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Sulaimon Olanrewaju.

APC Will Reclaim Kano From NNPP, Says Deputy Senate President

Barau Jibrin, deputy senate president, says the All Progressives Congress (APC) will reclaim Kano state from the control of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

The NNPP, a party led by Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano, won the governorship and two senatorial seats in the state during the general election, while Barau, APC’s candidate, won the third senatorial seat.

The APC in Kano is currently at the election petition tribunal challenging the victory of Abba Yusuf, the incumbent governor of the state.

Nigeria Police Charge Detained Imo-based Journalist, Nonso Nkwa For Insulting Gov Yusuf, Asari Dokubo

The Nigeria Police Force has arraigned the detained Owerri-based radio journalist and rights activist, Chinonso Uba, popularly known as Nonso Nkwa, before a Federal High Court in Abuja.

Uba was picked up in Owerri on July 27, 2023, and has been detained at the Police Force Headquarters, Abuja for the last three weeks without having access to his family members and lawyers. 

He was on Wednesday arraigned on two counts bordering on insulting Governor Hope Uzodinma and Niger Delta militant leader, Asari Dokubo.
