No Conflict With SGF – Gov Alia

Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has debunked insinuations on social media that he was in conflict with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Sen.

Leadership paper reported that, George Akume, saying, “Akume is my leader, the leader of our great Party All Progressive Congress (APC) and my respect and loyalty to him is 100 per cent.”

The governor stated: “I have no crisis with the SGF, he is my leader and the leader of my party in the North Central, and as far as I am concerned, saboteurs will continue to starve.” The governor made this statement at a media engagement at Government House Makurdi over the weekend.

The governor claims that Sen. Akume, the party’s leader in Benue and the North Central region, has been elevated to serve the entire nation, but rather than congratulating him, the state’s opponents are occupied spreading rumors that could spark a crisis that does not exist.

Speaking about the state’s phantom workers, Governor Alia said that the finding of 2,500 of them during the initial screening process had saved the state more than N1 billion.

Regarding the delay in forming the state’s cabinet, the governor stated that he had since sent the House of Assembly a list of all the nominations for review and confirmation within the allotted 60 days.

The governor said, “I will not take your support for granted because l am also part of you and there is no way I will offer quality services without you.” He thanked the media for its support before, during, and after the elections that produced him as well as the launch of his administration.

He bemoaned the circumstance in which, as a result of inadequate compensation, corps members who were deployed to serve in the state acquired deployment letters to other states.
