Tribunal; Labour Party closes case against Peter Mbah at Enugu tribunal

According to Vanguard, Mr.Chijioke Edoga, the Labor Party (LP) candidate in the gubernatorial race, on Sunday before the Enugu Electoral Court completed his evidence presentation challenging Governor Peter Mbah’s victory in the March 18 election puts.

After summoning 30 witnesses and one witness summoned by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), namely Mr Victor Okafor, they substantiated their claims.

The Gubernatorial Petitions Court is currently presiding over Mr.Chijioke Edoga’s petition against the election of PDP representative Peter Mbah as governor.

Edeoga is asking the tribunal to disqualify Mbah over the alleged falsification of his NYSC certificate and manipulation of election results.

During the hearing, INEC called witness Okafor, who told the court that his organization had supplied five BVAS (Bimodal Voters Accreditation System) devices, as indicated in the list of subpoenas.

Mr.Eyitayo Fatogun (SAN), the LP’s attorney, presented the five BVAS machines to the tribunal.

However, Dr.Onyechi Ikpeazu, PDP Attorney, and Mr.Alex Izinyon, Mbah’s Attorney, object to the admission of the machines as evidence.

The lawyers stated that they would disclose their reasons in their closing statements.

Nevertheless, the court accepted the BVAS machines as valid evidence. Under cross-examination by Fatogun, the subpoenaed witness confirmed that the data generated by the BVAS equipment during the 18 March gubernatorial election has now been included in the BVAS report received from Abuja headquarters.

He stated that he did not have the BVAS equipment for the Owo and Ugboka registration areas in the Nkanu East Local Government Area.

He further mentioned that the machines could only be identified by their respective codes.

According to him, the codes of the five presented BVAS machines are as follows: 14.08.06.003, 14.08.01.002, 14.08.06.005, 14.08.17.012, and 14.08.01.003.

He made it clear All machines contained the BVAS system and the associated accessories.

He stated that he could not provide any further information on the BVAS devices than that already mentioned since the devices had not been used since the election.
