‘Nigerians cannot forgive Buhari because he failed to renew at least one refinery in 8 years” – Christopher Sarki

Christopher B. Sarki, a former route commander for the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), as well as the national chairman of the Coalition to Strengthen Democracy for Good Governance Initiative (CSDGGI), has expressed his opinions on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s decision to end the fuel subsidy.

Remember that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu declared the abolition of fuel subsidies would take effect immediately during his inauguration.

According to Christopher B. Sarki, who spoke exclusively with The Sun paper, “The withdrawal of fuel subsidies caused Nigerians and the NLC to protest and go on a statewide strike since President Tinubu did not make plans to mitigate their impacts before declaring them during his inauguration”.

He continued, “I don’t consider palliatives as actual methods to soften the consequences of subsidy removal since if government increases worker’s income, market women will also increase the price of food goods, landlords will increase house rents, and price of other materials and services would also increase. However, I’m glad Tinubu promised Nigerians that the Port Harcourt Refinery would be fixed in five months.

He stated further; “Nigerians cannot forgive former President Buhari because he failed to revive at least one refinery in eight years. When running for president of Nigeria, Buhari pledged to restore the country’s refineries in 2014 and 2019. Surprisingly, he was unable to fix even one.

Many Nigerians have expressed their opinions about the recent statement made by Christopher B. Sarki on social media after The Sun paper shared it on its verified Twitter page.
