PDP Has No Right To Discipline Me For Being In Tinubu’s Govt- Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike has said he remains a member of the PDP despite being in the APC government of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Wike said this on Wednesday as a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today when he was asked if he was still a member of the opposition party.

APC Expels Rasaq

Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress on Wednesday announced the expulsion of 84 members majority of whom, were drawn from the defunct Osun Progressives.

Prominent on the list of those expelled was Mr Rasaq Salinsile, the chairman of the faction supported by the ex-governor, Rauf Aregbesola, at the peak of the leadership crises that ravaged APC before the last governorship election in the state.

Also expelled were Mr. Biyi Odunlade and Temilade Olokungboye, who have both taken.

Tinubu Seeks Consensus

President Bola Tinubu has said a comprehensive consensus against the spread of “contagious autocracy” across Africa is the next step forward with respect to how the power in Gabon will play out.

The Nigerian leader noted that he is committed to working with other heads of state to defend democracy on the continent.

President Tinubu stated this in his first response to the early morning Wednesday coup in Gabon, according to a statement by the Presidential spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale.

Troops Conduct tions Against Oil Thieves In Imo, Delta

The Nigerian Army said troops of 343 Artillery Regiment conducting anti-oil theft operations on Monday, August 28, 2023, cracked down on an oil thieves’ camp in Obokofia community in Imo State.

A statement by Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director, Army Public Relations, disclosed that the vigilant troops intercepted 15 sacks and 13 Jerry cans of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) concealed in the camp.

According to him, the troops recovered two pumping machines, three power generators, one hose, and a toolbox used for hacking into oil pipelines.
