Niger: USA & France Are Only Interested In The Resources Beneath The Soil Of Niger And Nigeria — Usman Yusuf

Following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s letter to the Nigerian Senate, calling for approval to embark on an immediate deployment of troops to the Niger Republic, a Nigerian Professor and Political scientist, Usman Yusuf, has alleged that the president is bent on going to war against the Niger Republic after getting the backing of France and the USA, whose interests are not in the people of Niger or Nigeria but in the resources beneath the soil of these countries.

Recall that, On Friday, Catherine Colonna, the French minister for Europe and foreign affairs, said France is strongly in support of efforts by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to defeat the coup in the Niger Republic.

Speaking during an interview with the Arise , Professor Usman said that the backing being given to President Tinubu by the western countries is deceitful, such that their systemic interest is to harness what is underneath the soil of both countries.

According to him, “Before any president goes to war, he has to explain to his people the reasons he’s going to war, the strategic importance, whether it’s economic, security, or political, and what the self-interests of that country will be for going to war. The western countries on whose behalf you are going to war, France and the United States, already know what their interests are; their strategic interests are not the people of Niger or Nigeria but what is underneath the soil of Niger and Nigeria.”
