Niger Coup: Don't Allow Yourself To Be Misled By Foreign Powers -Shehu Sani Tells President Tinubu

Senator Shehu Sani has taken to his official Twitter handle to advise President Tinubu, saying he should not allow himself to be misled by foreign powers. He said this after President Bola Tinubu asked the Nigerian Senate to approve military action against Niger Republic.

According to reports, President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria is seeking support for Nigeria’s military intervention in Niger. He demanded a total blockade of the sea and air routes to the country following the ongoing unrest (military coup) in Niger Republic.

Reacting to President Tinubu’s request, Shehu Sani said, “The Nigerian Senate should not approve any military action against Niger Republic. President Tinubu shouldn’t allow himself to be misled by foreign powers.”

Speaking further on why the Senate shouldn’t approve President Tinubu’s request, he cited what happened in Saudi in Yemen, America in Afghanistan and Russia in Ukraine, saying war doesn’t end in days, weeks or months. He urged the President to explore diplomatic channels and save lives of those who will be sacrificed.

Recall that the military overthrew the democratically elected government in Niger Republic weeks ago.
