"Niger cannot rubbish Nigeria, I as a patriot will not take that" – Doyin Okupe back Tinubu

Dr. Doyin Okupe, former Director General of the Obi-Datti presidential campaign, said that Niger Republic cannot rubbish Nigeria and that he as a patriot will not take that.

Doyin Okupe made the statement in a tweet he recently released on his official Twitter account where he was reacting to the news around military coup in Niger and ECOWAS intervention to restore democracy and peace to the country.

Currently, Niger is under the military government as military personnel topped Bazoum, who was democratically elected on July 26th, 2023. President Tinubu also the chairman of ECOWAS after meeting with some fellow ECOWAS leaders last Sunday, decry the coup and gave an order of 7 days ultimatum to restore democracy to Niger.

President Tinubu has now written to the Senate to seek support in a bid to restore democracy in Niger.

Doyin Okupe who may have been following the news reacted that,

“I am not suggesting we go to war with Niger. But Niger cannot rubbish Nigeria. I as a patriot will not take that. We should not be quiet because of internal differences and allow this to happen. Presidents are not permanent. We must all protect that seat else it’s not worth fighting for.
