Tribunal: Obi/Labour vs. Tinubu/INEC Will Be Dismissed — Adebayo, SDP Presidential Candidate

According to VANGUARD newspaper, amidst the anticipation surrounding the impending verdict of the Presidential Elections Petitions Court (PEPC) on the February 25, 2023, presidential election, Prince Adewole Ebenezer Adebayo, a prominent participant in the election as the Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) Presidential candidate, has offered his insight. Adebayo, in a statement over the weekend, urged both the petitioners and the Nigerian populace to turn their focus towards the preparations for the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Adebayo confidently asserted that these petitions rank among the simplest to be addressed by tribunal judges since the return of democracy in 1999, implying that they are likely to be swiftly dismissed.

Taking to his official Twitter account, @Pres_Adebayo, the SDP Presidential candidate emphasized that the petitions lack substantial merit and have been inadequately presented.

He wrote: “This year’s election petitions are the easiest to dispense with since 1999. No need for any judicial acrobatics. They fall within clear jurisprudence and well-established precedents. Obi/ Labour vs Tinubu/INEC will be dismissed in limine; ditto for Atiku/PDP vs Tinubu/INEC.These petitions lack merit and are poorly presented, abysmally unproved and comically argued. APM’s half-hearted petition is a pre-election mongrel with no pedigree in electoral litigation. The judges are not to blame. All opposition elements should prepare for 2027 elections”.
