Art Minister, Musawa Speaks On Alleged Statement On NYSC Status

Minister of Art, Culture, and Creative Industries, Barr. Hannatu Musawa, has denied the allegation circulating in the media about her ministerial status in the NYSC. Naija reports that Musawa’s NYSC status has been the subject of heated debate in the media in recent days after she was sworn in as one of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 45 ministers.

The NYSC leadership confirmed the allegation that she was in the NYSC, saying the minister absconded when she was first mobilized into the system in 2003.

In a statement signed by the deputy director of the Ministry of Information and Interior, the minister announced that she did not make an official statement on the said matter and asked the public to be careful about unconfirmed information. She expressed appreciation for the support, solidarity, and understanding of Nigerians at this time and emphasized that she has not made a statement on the matter.

The statement reads in parts: “Attention to the trial lawyer, Hannatu Musa Musawa, the Honorable Minister of Arts, Culture, and Creative Industries is interested in a recently circulated piece entitled:

My personal statement on my status as a serving minister in the NYSC is inaccurately related to her in the current NYSC debate.

When the minister explains that she has not made an official statement on the aforementioned matter and asks the public to be careful with unverified information,

I deeply appreciate the support, solidarity, and understanding of Nigerians at this time. To be clear, I have not made a statement on the current matter.”
