MURIC reacts as Bode George supports Christian dominated commissioner-nominees list of Gov Sanwo-Olu

According to a news that was published by the PM Online this afternoon, it was reported that the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has reacted as Chief Olabode George berated him for protesting against Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s commissioner-nominees list which he claimed was dominated by Christians.

Bode George during an interview few days ago had said he was disappointed in the Professor Ishaq Akintola for staging such a protest because, there is no family in Nigeria presently that does not have Muslims, Christians and traditional worshippers.

MURIC’s latest criticism was expressed in a statement that was released on September 6, 2023, by its Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola.

While he was talking, he said “So did Chief Bode George who authenticated the maxim of ‘the enemy of my enemy is my friend’. The PDP chieftain who has failed to fulfil his pledge to relocate to Benin Republic or Cameroon if Tinubu won the presidential election threw the umbrella away and hid behind the broom when it came to Muslim-bashing. We will not dignify the words of those who will not walk their talk. Honour and fulfilment of promises have a symbiotic relationship. Those who do not have one, cannot possess the other.”

He said that Nigerian people need to understand the game playing out in the South-West geopolitical zone because public schools are under the control of Christian missionaries, who have been using their influence to intimidate Muslim students that are seeking for admission.

He also claimed that Muslim students only got admitted only if they compromise their faith and even after finishing school, most Muslims do get jobs only if they convert to Christianity.

He said, “The individuals who emerge from this system are sometimes portrayed as ‘Muslims’ to the public, even though those presenting them may know the reality. In the days ahead, Muslim leaders in Lagos State will scrutinize the backgrounds of these nominees.”

While concluding, he said, “To conclude, it’s emphasized that the notion of religious tolerance remains mere propaganda and hypocrisy as long as the government fails to ensure an equitable distribution of democratic benefits among various groups. A government that appears to favor one group over another cannot genuinely promote religious tolerance. Sanwo-Olu should provide clarity on the vetting process for his unbalanced list of nominees.”
