The acting Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, on Thursday played host to the acting Comptroller General, Nigerian Customs Service, Adewale Adeniyi, at the Louis Edet House, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The meeting served as a platform for both agencies to seek ways to strengthen cooperation across all areas of their respective operations, especially border control.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, made this known in a statement on Thursday.

The discussion focused on areas such as joint training programs, enhanced border patrol efforts, improved investigation techniques, and the establishment of a mutual working relationship for better internal security in the nation, Adejobi said.

First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has given reasons why she paid a courtesy visit to immediate past President Muhammadu Buhari at his Daura residence in Katsina State.

The first lady who was accompanied on the visit by the wife of the vice president, Nana Shettima, said the visit was to check on the former president and thank him for the fatherly support he gives always.

In a statement by her media aide, Busola Kukoyi, she prayed for long life, good health and more support from him not only for the administration of President Bola Tinubu but Nigeria as a whole.

In his brief remarks after the visit, the former president expressed appreciation noting that the visit which was to see how he is settling down to life after public office was remarkable.

Sen. Abdulaziz Yari representing Zamfara West in the Senate has charged the ministerial nominee from the state, Bello Matawalle, to be a worthy representative of the state and Nigeria.

Yari made the call on Thursday in Abuja when he paid a congratulatory visit to Matawalle.

He explained that President Bola Tinubu’s choice of Matawalle was the right decision for Zamfara, and a fulfilment of promise made.

We tried everything justly possible to see to the emergence of Matawalle for his second term in office but God in His wisdom had other plans for him which we didn’t know.

Benue Gov meets Shettima over food security challenge

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State on Thursday urged the federal government to prioritise the development of the agriculture sector in helping Nigeria achieve food security.

He made the call while speaking to State House reporters after a meeting with Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Alia said Vice President Shettima had strong leaning for agriculture and needed to pull support to the Benue State government as the food basket of the nation in achieving high levels of food production in the state and the country.

United Nations supported food and nutrition analysis published this year indicate that nearly 25 million Nigerians are at risk of facing hunger due to food insecurity.
