Following that, Senate President Godswill Akpabio put the proposal to a voice vote, but legislators were divided on the issue. The red chamber erupted into a raucous session right away. During a heated debate, senate President Godswill Akpabio sprang to his feet and declared that the Senate will go into closed session.

Nwokocha has accused Festus Keyamo of insulting the 9th National Assembly and accusing it of corruption. Festus Keyamo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), served as Minister of State for Labour and Productivity during ex-President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
