Ministerial screening: ' I am sorry ', Festus Keyamo begs Senate

Former Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mr. Festus Keyamo has appealed the Senate to forgive him for his past actions.

He made this appeal during the screening exercise held for ministerial nominees after a lawmaker from the Labour Party (LP), Senator Darlington Nwokocha called for the suspension of his screening as he had once insulted some lawmakers while he was a Minister under the past administration and have also failed to clear himself of corruption allegations made against him.

Keyamo said: ‘ I apologize to the Senate, I am very sorry. Regarding that programme, the account was handled by the World Bank, so we the head of the agencies never saw one kobo. We only generated the list and the money was paid directly to the people’s account. Every detail of that account was captured and kept in a file. All the records of the beneficiaries and their data are in the ministry ‘.
