Ministerial nomination: Bosun Tijani apologises to Senate over unpatriotic tweets

Bosun Tijani, an Ogun State contender for a cabinet position, has apologised to the Senate for his tweets from four years ago.

Senator Abdulfatai Buhari of the Oyo North Senatorial District confronted Tijani on Saturday during his screening and accused him of being unpatriotic after hearing his biography.

According to Vanguard news, On July 21, 2019, Dr. Bosun tweeted negatively about Nigeria, saying he didn’t value the Nigerian passport or the country as a whole, according to Senator Buhari.

Buhari then demanded clarification from the candidate over his continued support for Nigeria and its passport.

Tijani apologised in front of the Senate, citing his tweet as the result of a negative interaction with the Chinese Embassy.

“I tweeted out my rage. I’m sorry,” the ministerial candidate said.

Even though the meeting got raucous, Senate President Godswill Akpabio pleaded with the other senators to show forgiveness to the candidate and that the Senate had accepted his apology on their behalf.
