Michael Carrick Sets To Be Named Manager of Top English Club

Middlesbrough will meet with former Manchester United and England footballer Michael Carrick to discuss their vacant managerial position.

It is believed that Boro will begin formal conversations with the 41–year-old as they intensify their search for a replacement for Chris Wilder, who resigned from the club last week after 11 months in charge.

Carrick, after early contact, has risen to the top of the club’s wishlist in recent days as chairman Steve Gibson and director of football Kieran Scott have weighed their options, but he has also been connected with West Brom following Steve Bruce’s exit on Monday.>>>>>CONTINUE READING HERE>>>>>

Former Forest Green manager Rob Edwards, who is available after his 11-game tenure at Watford came to an end, has been interviewed and has the support of the Riverside Stadium leadership, but Michael Carrick appears to be the favoured candidate.

He previously served as an assistant at Old Trafford and as interim manager after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s departure in November 2018.

Boro coach Leo Percovich was placed in interim control at the Riverside following Wilder’s dismissal, which occurred after a 1-0 loss at Coventry sent the promotion contenders into the Championship relegation zone.

Last Wednesday, Percovich led his team to a 1–0 victory over Birmingham at home, but Saturday’s 2-0 loss at Millwall left them only one spot and two points above the relegation zone.

This weekend, the Teessiders will face Blackburn and expect to have their new manager in place in time to prepare the team for the match.
