Many people have a passion for something but are afraid to take the risk of moving forward. Mr Adefolalu Timothy Olusegun’ s story can inspire you to leave a job you don’ t enjoy and find fulfilment in any job that makes you happy.
Adefolalu, popularly known as the Dancing Lastma is a Lagos state traffic warden who enjoys dancing and entertaining motorists while performing his duties. From 1997 to 2002, he worked as a cameraman before being forced to leave to become a traffic warden when things didn’ t go as planned.
When Adefolalu wants to control the traffic, he dances and moves his legs as many professional footballers do. He’ d always wanted to be a football player or a musician, but he never imagined himself as a traffic officer. But, since neither of them seemed to be working out, he combined his traffic job with his entertainment side, which he has done for nearly 19 years.
He’ s become so accustomed to his job that he feels says whenever he doesn’ t show up for work, especially when his coworkers call to inquire as to why he isn’ t there. Furthermore, some people reward his efforts with money, which serves as a form of encouragement for him.
To be happy in their job, one does not have to be a traffic cop. Find that thing you’ re passionate about and find a way to combine it with your current job so you can have both personal satisfaction and job loyalty.
And if your current job isn’ t playing well enough, take the risk and move on. Aside from the three essential things that your job should provide for you, such as clothing, food, and shelter, you also need to be happy in it.
