"Minister Of Youths Is 62 Yrs Old, Must This Govt Break Every Promise It Made To Nigerians? -Kenneth Okonkwo

Kenneth Okonkwo, a veteran Nollywood actor and Labour Party Chieftain, criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government for appointing a 62-year-old man as the Minister of Youths. This decision contradicted the government’s promise of including youths in key positions.

Mr. Okonkwo questioned whether the APC-led government had to break every promise it made to Nigerians. He expressed disappointment that a position intended for youths was given to individuals of older generations.

In a post on his X handle as seen below on Thursday morning, shortly after the federal government revealed the new ministers’ portfolios, he stated: “Minister of Youths is 62 years old in this government that promised youth inclusion. Must this government break every promise it made to Nigerians? A position for youths now goes to grandfathers.”

Recently, Abubakar Momoh was appointed as the Minister of Youth. Many Nigerians have criticized this decision, arguing that appointing someone above 50 to the position meant for youths is not appropriate. Prior to the last election, Bola Tinubu pledged to include Nigerian youths in his government. However, the appointment of an older individual to the youth ministerial role has sparked debate about the government’s commitment to fulfilling its promises.
