Senator Abdul Ningi, a federal lawmaker representing Bauchi State, emphasized that there is minimal distinction between Nigerians and Nigeriens in seven local governments in Nigeria. Speaking in an interview with Channels TV , he highlighted that the people from both countries share commonalities in terms of language, culture, and religion.

He further pointed out that initiating conflict with a nation like Niger contradicts Nigeria’s foreign policy, which prioritizes strong ties within Africa.

”Niger Republic is among our closest and strongest allies in Africa,” he stated. “We share linguistic, religious, and cultural similarities. In certain local governments spanning seven regions of Nigeria, it’s difficult to distinguish between Nigeriens and Nigerians. Nigeria’s foreign policy is intrinsically linked to Africa. Therefore, before embarking on any military action, careful consideration and thought should be given.”
