Mrs Adeola Oseni, the wife of late Wale Bob-Oseni has denied reports that he was a contractor at the 21-storey building that collapsed in Ikoyi.

Bob-Oseni is one of the victims of the Ikoyi building collapse. He died on the day he was supposed to return to the United States.

Bob-Oseni, a real estate dealer and Executive Director of African Bureau for Legislative Empowerment, was said to be on his way to the airport returning to the United States on Monday, when he got a call from his friend and associate, Femi Osibona, owner of Fourscore Homes, to check out his ongoing building on Gerard Road, Ikoyi.

The family said, “On Thursday, November 4, 2021, our hope that our husband, brother, son, nephew, friend and the core of many networks of hardworking young and upwardly mobile Nigerians, Wale Bob Oseni, would be one of the survivors of the ill-fated crash was dashed.

“Since we identified his body, we have been struggling with the nightmarish reality of our irreparable loss, the chasm of his absence, and the multi-dimensional proportions of this transition from being to nothingness.

“It is not true that Wale Bob Oseni was a director or contractor in the Fourscore Properties construction transaction. “The owner, Femi Osibona and Wale, were both alumni of Mayflower School, Ikenne where both of them bonded.

“It was this camaraderie that made Osibona invite him to see the dream project he was building.” While 15 persons survived the crash, over 40 people have been confirmed dead while others are still missing.

Families are now claiming bodies of their relatives who were involved in the sad incident with the Lagos State Government carrying out a DNA test as a means of identification.

In another report, a retired Air Vice Marshal, Mohammed Maisaka, has been killed by gunmen in his house in Rigasa, Kaduna State. Rigasa, a hotspot in the Kaduna suburb, is in the Igabi Local Government Area of the state, where telecoms are on shutdown to crack down on bandits ravaging the state.

The retired senior military officer, until his murder on Monday night, was the proprietor and managing director of MSK Hospital, a medical facility he established to help the community.

Although there was no official statement from either the police or the state, an associate of the deceased, Abubakar Gwantu, said the gunmen shot him in the presence of his wife.

He said, “They (gunmen) arrived at Maisaka’s house late Monday night and met him and his wife in the living room and shot him dead.

“The armed men first visited the boys’ quarters and picked his personal physiologist; they forced him to lead them into the main house. During the commotion that followed, they killed him (Maisaka).

“It was certainly planned because they told his wife that they didn’t have business with her, and just casually left the house without picking a thing or threatening anyone.”

Gwantu said the retired officer was paralysed due to a medical condition for about three years and was in rehabilitation when he was killed.

“In spite of his family opposition, he built and was running a private hospital in the densely populated Rigasa community, in his typical character of social work.

He refused, in spite of his privileges of social status, to live outside the community where he also built his retirement home,” he added.
