LP Reacts As Tribunal Fixes Date For Presidential Election Petition Judgement

The Labour Party (LP) has announced its readiness for the final ruling of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) concerning its petition challenging the victory of President Bola Tinubu.

As previously reported by vanguard news, the Presidential tribunal has confirmed September 6 as the date for delivering the ruling on the petitions challenging President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 presidential election. In a statement issued on Monday, the Court of Appeal Registrar, Umar Bangari, confirmed this highly anticipated verdict and stated that the court proceedings would be open to live broadcast by interested television stations.

Bangari emphasized that all necessary arrangements had been made to ensure a smooth and trouble-free delivery of judgment for the three petitions. Adequate security measures had been implemented to maintain law and order during the proceedings, and only invited members of political parties and the general public would be allowed into the courtroom to prevent overcrowding and security issues.

In response to these developments, the LP National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, expressed optimism that the judgment would be in their favor. Ifoh conveyed their belief that the judgment would align with the wishes of Nigerians and that all of the party’s prayers submitted to the tribunal would be answered positively.
