LP Chieftain, Oseloka Obaze Reacts As Tinubu Shelves Plan To Attack Niger, Sends Negotiation Team

Amid the ongoing faceoff between the Niger Republic and the Economic Community Of West African States (ECOWAS) over the recent military take over of power in the french-speaking country, Labour Party Chieftain, and former UN Diplomat, Oseloka Henry Obaze has applauded the Tinubu administration for suspending its initial threat to invade the country.

In a tweet posted on his verified Twitter handle on Friday, August 4, Obaze, who is also the Special Adviser to Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi on public affairs, opined that it appears ECOWAS has taken the advise put forward from different quarters on the need to deploy diplomacy instead of military force in resolving the crisis in Niger Republic.

According to him, an invasion of the french-speaking country by ECOWAS forces would have had a much devastating effect for all countries involved, reminiscent of the war of Vietnam several decades ago.
