LP brought in someone who has nothing to do with INEC, to tamper with the BVAS— Dr. Afam Ani

Dr. Afam Ani, the Chairman and Governorship candidate of the Action Progress Party in Enugu State, expressed his concerns during an interview with Arise . He alleged that the Labour Party had brought in an unknown individual with no affiliation to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to tamper with the Biometric Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machine, which is illegal.

Dr. Afam Ani further emphasized that this was the reason why 14 political parties collectively stood against such actions. According to him, tampering with the BVAS machine opens the door for manipulation of the recorded scores or any other actions that could result in problems and unfairly favor a specific party.

In his words, “They brought in an unknown individual with no connection to INEC to tamper with the BVAS machine, which is a clear violation of the law. This is why the political parties united and firmly rejected allowing such incidents to occur, as it would lead to complications. I am specifically referring to my colleagues in the Labour Party, who seem to be taking this matter too personally. We are all residents of Enugu State, and we have no intention of fleeing to another state. Enugu is our home, and it is our responsibility to uphold peace and tranquility.”

Dr. Afam Ani’s statements shed light on the alleged irregularities surrounding the involvement of an unauthorized individual in manipulating the BVAS machine. His concerns revolve around the potential consequences of such actions, which could undermine the integrity of the electoral process and disrupt the peace within Enugu State. By sharing his thoughts on this matter, he invites readers to contribute their perspectives and opinions, encouraging an open dialogue on the issue at hand.
