A post on Vanguard’s official website reads that Sen. Iyiola Omisore, a former national secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was accused in a widely circulated audio recording, his sister, Funmilayo Omisore, revealed that the former scribe’s political adversaries had encouraged her to frame him, yesterday.
In an audio that has since gone viral, a female member of the Omisore family is heard accusing Omisore of allegedly misusing money intended for the governorship election in Osun State in 2022 and failing to support any family members while he was the APC scribe.
Nevertheless, yesterday in Lagos, members of the Omisore family gathered to discuss the situation.
Mr. Folarin Omisore and Mr. Ipoola Omisore, who were in charge of the family, claimed to have found a solution.
Speaking at a news conference to clear Omisore of the unfounded charge, Funmilayo pleaded with the people whose names were mentioned in the audio to forgive her.
“The political rivals of Iyiola Omisore were the ones who forced me to frame everything I said,” she claimed. “I’ve never had any problems with Iyiola before. I apologize to everyone I named, including Chief Akinyelure, Chief Bisi Akande, President Bola Tinubu, and the entire Omisore family, as well as Senator Omisore, my good brother.” She concluded.
“We accept her regrets, family.
“She has apologized, and we accept her good faith apologies,” said Ipoola Omisore, president of the Omisore family. “The family’s shining star is Omisore.” Ipoola continued.
“We traveled all the way from Ile-Ife to settle this issue when we heard that someone was trying to cast aspersions on the star of the family. Thank God, we were able to resolve the situation.” He concluded.
