The residents of Otu- Jeremi, headquarters of Ughelli South Local Government Area, Delta State were left in shock on Wednesday, 12th of January, 2022, as a man simply identified as Paul, allegedly hacked the father of his girlfriend to death.
Based on the account of a source who informed the correspondent of Vanguard News that the disaster that erupt between the suspect and the deceased began when the deceased returned to his apartment from a long journey where he caught Paul in a s€xual position with his daughter.
As of the time of filing this report, the identity of the deceased has not yet been verified.
According to the source of the news who said, ” Immediately the man got home and caught his daughter and her boyfriend in a romantic mood, he questioned them by asking what’ s happening here, an altercation began in the process and the suspect and the deceased engaged in physical combat.
” While fighting, the suspect took a bottle, broke it, and used it to stab the father of his lover. The man gave up the ghost before he could get assistance. “
When he was reached on the phone by the Newsmen on Thursday, 14th of January, 2022, Mr. Bright Edafe, The Delta State Public Relations Officer, verified that the occurrence truly happened and the suspect was apprehended and detained in the custody.
Mr. Edafe said further that the suspect visited his girlfriend in her father’ s house and revealed that he heard the voice of a baby crying and he moved closer to the baby to pacify her, that was when the deceased entered the room and asked him what he was doing with the baby in his hands.
” Along the line, they engaged in a physical combat while the suspect grabbed a bottle which he broke and stabbed the deceased to death, ” said Edafe.
Mr Edafe added that the command have launched an inquiry into the matter which will cause the suspect to be charged to court for appropriate prosecution. He also urges the residents of Delta State to desist from taking the law into their hands and allow the security operatives to do their job by reporting any form of criminality to the authorities.
