Tribunal: The Judgment May Not Leave The President In Office Longer Than Is Necessary -MBF's Poga Bitrus

Dr. Pogu Bitrus, President of the Middle Belt Forum (MBF), has suggested that the impending judgment from the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) might not favor the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration, potentially leading to a shorter stay in office for President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In an interview with the national daily, THE SUN, the elder statesman noted that the APC and Tinubu seem to be anticipating a re-run of the February 25th election. This anticipation, he believes, prompted the President’s nomination of a Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja native for a ministerial role within his administration. The aim is to garner the requisite 25 percent votes as mandated.

When asked to comment on Tinubu’s ministerial list, Bitrus said, “the usual answer I give is that this may be short-lived because the judgment, though they may appeal, may not leave the man in office longer than is necessary.”

The MBF President asserted that actions taken by the President, such as the submission of the ministerial list to the Senate for scrutiny and confirmation, could potentially be invalidated, paving the way for a new President to compile his own list.
