"Labour Party Is Not Igbo Party, The Only Man Elected As Chairman Is Alhaji Apapa" -Bishop Favour

Bishop Reuben Favour, the Acting National Organizing Secretary of the Labour Party, affirmed that the Alhaji Lamidi Apapa-led faction of the party is the legitimate faction. This statement was made during the inauguration of the 24-member State Caretaker Committee of the party in Lagos.

Bishop Favour emphasized that the Labour Party is a national party with a broad reach, not limited to any specific ethnicity or Nollywood actors. He clarified that the sole individual elected as the party’s chairman is Lamidi Apapa.

Addressing the matter in a report by the Nigerian Tribune on Saturday, August 12, 2023, Bishop Favour stated, “We are not an Igbo party but a national party with a national presence. Labour Party is not a party for Nollywood actors. We are the authentic party. The others you see around are support groups. The only man elected as chairman is Alhaji Apapa, he was not nominated but was elected.”

Lamidi Apapa, the Acting National Chairman of the party, also spoke at the event, asserting that he remains the legitimate chairman of the party in Nigeria. He added that the courts recognize his position within the party and he is prepared to defend his stance in court against any challenges.
